Classroom Observation Focused on Questioning

During a 20 minute time span, write down the questions asked by the teacher. Using Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy of Thinking Skills, classify the question as:
  • Low order: Recall or Understand
  • Intermediate order: Apply or Analysis
  • High order: Evaluate or Create

Then calculate the teacher questions per minute. Consider the total number of questions; determine the percentage of low order, intermediate order and high order questions posed by the teacher during the lesson. What is the ratio of low, intermediate and high order questions per minute? Use the following page to assist you in this charting.
