As a candidate for teacher licensure at Campbell University and in North Carolina, you are required to demonstrate the North Carolina Standard and Campbell University Professional Disposition of “leadership” during your preparation program.
DOCUMENTATION OF LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES
After you have attended a leadership event which meets the guidelines established, you will complete the “Campbell University Leadership Verification Form” (see button below) which is signed by the faculty adviser/event sponsor/organizer verifying your attendance, participation, or presentation. You must also sign this document. Each of these documents will be uploaded into Tk20 to indicate your leadership accomplishments.
Evidence of leadership participation will be due in the Teacher Education Application (Junior Year) with the final evidences of your leadership activities due in the practicum binder. We suggest that candidates begin participating in professional activities early in their program.
EXPLANATION OF EACH LEVEL OF LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES
Level 1 Activities:
There are a multitude of leadership opportunities offered throughout Campbell University. Some of these are sponsored by the School of Education, while others might be sponsored by other Schools or Departments. You are limited to ONLY three points within this level so that you might demonstrate leadership within the other levels.
Level 2 Activities:
You will be required to join professional organizations (see buttons below) during your program of study. You will need liability insurance offered by some of these professional organizations as you begin field experiences. In addition, your membership provides you with a level 2 activity.
Level 3 Activities:
As you progress through your program of study, you will more than likely gain more leadership opportunities through your involvement within those organizations which you are a member. You may be asked to coordinate an event for the organization or you may be elected to serve as an officer. These are excellent opportunities for you to demonstrate leadership.
Level 4 Activities:
Within the School of Education, students are afforded the opportunity to attend many local and state conferences of professional organizations within the state. On a few occasions, students may be allowed to attend national conferences of professional organizations. These are excellent opportunities for you to network with other students and professionals within the area of study you may be interested.
Level 5 Activities:
Finally, you may be afforded the opportunity to present research, projects, and other scholarly work within a professional setting. We highly encourage this type of research. However, this level activity does not include those professional presentations you do which are required through a course or professor. (NOTE: You cannot count attending a professional conference at which you present as both Level 4 and 5; it can only count as one level activity.)
Student Leadership Organizations
There are many other leadership organizations at Campbell University, but the above listed organizations are within the School of Education.
